What is faļence?
A:
It's
earthenware with a hard, permanent glaze of ground glass,
quartz, and stannous oxide. Because it is fired far
lower than porcelain's murderous temperatures, it is
much easier to decorate. For this reason, Gien faience
is typically lavish in its use of color.
